FEM-GEST

Hormone Replacement

A woman's hormone levels change daily during her menstrual cycle. IN the first half of her cycle, prior to ovulation, estrogen predominates while progesterone is low. After ovulation, estrogen levels drop and progesterone rises. If no pregnancy ensues, levels of both hormones drop and menses begin.

Establishing a healthy hormonal balance often reduces such uncomfortable symptoms as: water retention, breast tenderness, mood swings, anxiety, depression, crying, frustration, fatigue, hot flashes and night sweats.

Medical research also indicates hormone replacement therapy to increase bone mineral density and counteract osteoporosis. Many physicians are avoiding estrogen therapy for postmenopausal women since it may increase the risk of endometrial cancer, gallstones and possibly cardiovascular disease.

Progesterone Therapy

Health care professionals to relieve symptoms of both PMS when progesterone levels are low and/or estrogen is dominant and menopause when both estrogen and progesterone decrease successfully use progesterone therapy.

Progesterone is needed for proper function of adrenal glands. Stress on the adrenal glands may lead to progesterone deficiency, often causing symptoms of nervous disorders, depression, irritability, fatigue and mood swings.

Medical research shows that progesterone can work to:

· Prevent and treat osteoporosis

· Relieve PMS and menopause symptoms

· Enhance the thyroid system

· Restore sexual interest

· May help prevent cancer

· Natural anti-depressant and diuretic

· Raise blood sugar levels

· Regulate and elevate low hormone levels

PMS Affects Over 25 Million Women

Once considered to be "in a woman's head", PMS is now recognized as a real and prevalent health problem. PMS is a collection of over 150 recurring symptoms that usually appear between ovulation and the onset of menstruation, when levels of progesterone are deficient and/or estrogen is dominant. PMS appears to be a progesterone deficiency.

Until Now, Women with PMS Have Had to Endure These Symptoms

The board range of PMS symptoms... bloating, anxiety, irritability, moodiness, food cravings, crying, fatigue, depression and anxiety... are often influenced by hormonal imbalance. Dr. K. Dalton, who has successfully used progesterone therapy for over 30 years in England, reports complete relief of symptoms for patients.

For PMS, many women experience relief of symptoms by applying ¼ to ½ teaspoon of natural progesterone crème daily from ovulation to the onset of menstruation.

During pregnancy, many women find that applying ½ teaspoon of natural progesterone crème daily will minimize stretch marks and keep the skin looking youthful.

Menopause Affects Over 40 Million Women

Menopause is a biological event, which signals the termination of fertility. Severe symptoms may occur due to hormonal shifts, ovarian decline and diminished estrogen levels. Common symptoms of menopause include hot flashes, insomnia, fatigue, irritability, anxiety, weight gain, sexual changes, depression, mood swings and crying.

Many postmenopausal women find it helpful to apply ¼ tsp. from day 8 to 21 and ½ tsp. from day 22 to 30. Others find they need to use ½ tsp. Everyday. To soothe discomfort of hot flashes during menopause, many women find it helpful to apply ½ teaspoon repeatedly each hour until flashes disappear.

Bone Loss After Menopause

Perhaps the most devastating side effect of menopause is loss of bone density. Hormonal changes after menopause accelerate bone loss in women so that by age 60, one in four women has osteoporosis severe enough it cause dowager's hump, bone pain, loss of height, spinal deformity and an estimated 5 million spontaneous fractures in older Americans each year.

Progesterone, used in hormone replacement therapy, is an essential supplement, which restores osteoblast function. Using natural progesterone crème for treatment and prevention of osteoporosis, Dr. John Lee reported a 5% to 10% increase in bone mineral density in one year.

To establish healthy bones, it may be helpful to apply 1/8 to ¼ teaspoon twice a day or ½ teaspoon twice a day to soothe existing bone loss.

Side Effects of Hormone Replacement

Although estrogen replacement has been associated with increase risk of endometrial cancer, gallstones and possibly cardiovascular disease, there have been no reports of any significant side effects of health problems associated with the use of natural progesterone. In the first few months of use, some spotting may occur. If spotting persists longer than three months, a physician should be consulted. Please note that natural progesterone is not the same as the synthetic and the side effects, which have been reported from the synthetic, have not been associated with natural progesterone.
